ABOUT ME
30 Years of Serving New Orleans
Hi!
My name is Martin Krusche. I was born in Munich, Germany and started playing the saxophone at age 15. I was fortunate enough to have a mentor who showed me how to fix my own sax. I spent hours taking it apart and putting it back together.
When I started conservatory at age 24, I began fixing my fellow students' and teachers' saxes. In 1993, I received a scholarship to the New School for Jazz in New York City. During that time I started fixing horns for other students and sax players around town. By the second year in NYC I was working for everybody, and used this time to hone my craft.
I moved to New Orleans in 1995, and I’ve been repairing saxophones and playing music here ever since. I am dedicated to the saxophone, so I don’t work on clarinets or flutes. I run my workshop out of my house and see my customers by appointment only.
Estimates are free, and I usually need to see the saxophone to understand the work that needs to be done. However, there are some fixed prices:
-
Neck Cork: $15
-
Alto and Tenor Overhaul: $850
-
Bari Overhaul: $1050
-
Handmade Customized Resonators: double the overhaul price. Read more about these resonators.
Give me a call anytime! I look forward to working with you!
